    Green Brooklyn...Green City is a citywide event attracting residents from all five boroughs to a full day fair and symposium at Brooklyn Borough Hall.  Attendees will learn first-hand from local experts about the many ways New York City is creating a more sustainable future.  Alongside Borough Hall’s Greenmarket, attendees can visit booths, make art from recycled products, catch a film, and more! School field trips encouraged. The event, hosted by the Council on the Environment for New York City, will run from 12-6pm on September 24th, 2009 and is FREE and open to the public.

  • Panel Discussion on “Solar In the Developing World”

    This moderated 60 minute discussion would focus on the emerging significance of solar photovoltaics as a distributed power source in the context of the developing world. In particular, the panel would explore PV’s potential role within the broader project of local and global poverty eradication. Subjects explored in the course of the conversation would include the technology’s current and future cost and performance trajectories; a survey of existing and potential applications within rural and urban contexts of the developing world; the market potential of the developing world as a proportion of the entire global market; the critical importance of micro-finance; the prospects for indigenous technology development in the industrializing context, etc.
