Panel Discussion: Climate Change, Human Rights, and Forced Migration

Ms. Ursula Rakova from the Carteret Islands will share her experience organizing the first community-wide evacuations as a result of climate change. Dr. Paige West who has worked in Papua New Guinea for years will address the impacts that climate change is having on the culture and political ecology of islands. Filmmakers Jennifer Redfearn and Tim Metzger will show a clip from their upcoming film “Sun Come Up,” a documentary about the Carteret Islanders’ relocation.
